Following the recent deductions by Access Bank, customers are not finding it funny as most people are in shock claiming the bank has been hacked.
There are so many customers are all over the social media with different questions on how could access bank deduct outrageous charges for mere stamp duty.
It should be noted that a N50 stamp duty usually remitted to the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) is charged on all deposits, and electronic transfers of naira-denominated current and savings accounts for transactions of 10,000 and above.
Meanwhile, Access Bank Plc via an email to some customers disclosed that it forgot to implement the mandated stamp duty charge on applicable transactions between February 1, and April 30, 2020.
Apologising to customers for the oversight, Access bank urged all customers to fund their accounts to pay the accumulated charge over the 3-month period.
Nigerians are really in shock as different screenshots surfaced on social media, some customers were debited as much as N45,000, N7,000 to the least of N50.
Considering the situation in the country as a result of the COVID-19 outbreak, some Nigerians have said the deduction is an abuse of power while some argued it's a plot to scam thousands of Nigeria.

What Access bank just did is an abuse of power, just because they have un-restricted access to people's funds, they feel they can deduct any amount they want.— • General Zee š • (@heisTactic) June 27, 2020
