Following the 14-day extension of the COVID19 pandemic lockdown in Lagos and Ogun States, including the FCT by the President Muhammadu Buhari, Nigerians have called on the government to pay residents via bvn

The Bank Verification Number commonly called BVN is a biometric identification system implemented by the Central Bank of Nigeria to curb or reduce illegal banking transactions in Nigeria.

It is a modern security measure in line with the Central Bank of Nigeria Act 1958 to reduce fraud in the banking system.

Nigerians cited Namibia and Canada as instances where the governments have started transferring money directly into citizens bank accounts and every other means employable.

Nigerians pointed out  that a good amount of donations were made by wealthy individuals and corporate organizations, adding that they are not going on another lockdown in emptiness
