NCDC Reveals How Coronavirus Patients Are Recovering In Nigeria

The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) has given reports on the recovery of Coronavirus patients in the country.

The Director-General of the NCDC, Chikwe Ihekweazu, revealed that 90 percent of Coronavirus patients recovered without any particular cure.

He stated on Wednesday that someone infected with coronavirus, usually required support for the body to recover by itself,  as against claims that the Governor of Oyo State, Seyi Makinde, used honey black seed to kill Coronavirus.

He said,

“We should remember that 90 percent of these patients recover without any intervention. So, if you take something and say you recovered and that something is why you recovered, it doesn’t quite add up.”

“There are very few viruses with a cure. So, you go to a hospital and for COVID-19, you’re given oxygen. Oxygen is not really a treatment; it’s to keep you alive for long enough for you to recover yourself."

Recall that, Nigeria has 276 confirmed cases of COVID-19 as at late Wednesday evening.

So far, 44 patients of the virus have been treated and discharged while six have died
