President Muhammadu Buhari in a nationwide broadcast on Monday, April 27, relaxed the lockdown imposed in Lagos, Ogun, and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).
The lockdown ease takes effect from Monday, May 4, with 8pm to 6am curfew imposed instead.
As Nigerians in the affected states prepare to resume work on May 4, the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) has released a list of measures to adhere to in order to prevent COVID-19 spread.
"Despite the ease of the lockdown starting 4th May, it is critical for Nigerians to adhere to these measures to #PreventCOVID19 spread," NCDC wrote in a Twitter post on Wednesday, April 29.
Below is a list of seven measures to adhere to as the lockdown is eased:
1. Daily curfew from 8pm-6am
2. Mandatory use of face mask
3. Ban on social and religious gatherings
4. Restricted inter-state travel
5. Social distancing; maintain two metres between you and the next person
6. Mandatory temperature screening in public places
7. Provision of soap and running water/sanitizers by facility/business owners
In a similar situation, the World Health Organisation (WHO) has also listed five important times for everyone to wash their hands in their workplace to prevent COVID-19 spread as the lockdown is relaxed.
"It is vital to practice safe hand hygiene to prevent the spread of #COVID19," the international health organization wrote on a Facebook post on Tuesday, April 28.
