The Federal Government and the leadership of the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) failed to reach a concession in their last meeting concerning the ongoing two-week warning strike by the union.
The Minister of Labour and Employment, Dr. Chris Ngige, noted that the Federal Government had given a new proposal as regards the impasse over the Integrated Payroll Personal Information System (IPPIS) enrollment for members of the union.
Although, the FG and ASUU has failed to reveal to the newsmen what the proposal was all about.
The Minster further said that; “the issue of IPPIS, has been discussed and solutions were provided. “We've given the union a new proposal and they have also agreed that they will get back to the government before the end of the week".
ASUU president, Prof Biodun Ogunyemi, disclosed that they've made some progress compared to their previous meeting.
He added that, the Federal Government has presented concrete proposals to the members but, the members of union present at the meeting can’t make final decisions on any of the proposals.

While he assured the government’s team that the representatives will report faithfully to the principals and get back to the government as promised.
It would be recalled that, the two-week warning strike, embarked on should come to an end next week Monday.
