COVID-19: FG To Ban Large Gatherings in Nigeria

The house of Senate has requested that, the federal government ban all public gatherings such as religious gatherings, Schools, Social gatherings in the country to curtail further spread of coronavirus.

The Senate also called on the President, General Mohammed Buhari to address the country on measures in place to tackle the disease because since the outbreak of coronavirus in the country, the President has not addressed the citizens.

The request was made at Today's plenary session after much talk on the pandemic.

However, the request by the Senate that, the federal government shut all schools and large gatherings for two weeks was rejected.

They further requested for an agreement between Nigeria and countries free of the disease on the production and supply of test kits and other infrastructure needed to tackle the virus in the country.

It would be recalled that Nigeria has comfirmed eight cases of coronavirus, five of which were confirmed Today.
