SHE-SHI Pays Courtesy Visit to Oshodi-Isolo LG Chairman, Strengthens Partnership for Community Safety

In a significant move towards strengthening partnerships for women’s health, safety, and empowerment, the SHE Safety and Health Initiative paid a courtesy visit to the Executive Chairman of Oshodi-Isolo Local Government on Wednesday, March 5, 2025.

The visit aimed to foster collaboration between SHE and the local government, particularly in advancing safety education, healthcare awareness, and community development programmes.

Leading the delegation was Amb. Mabel Abel-Onaiwu, Founder & CEO of SHE Safety and Health Initiative, accompanied by Governing Board Chairman, Mr. Patrick Asuama, Director of Programmes, Favour Dakoru and Media Director, Godsgift Dada.

The visit aimed to reinforce the importance of safety training, healthcare advocacy, and policy support in creating safer communities, especially for women and young girls.

Upon arrival, the SHE-SHI team was warmly received by Hon. Mrs. Modupeoluwa Badmus-Aregbe, Vice Chairman of Oshodi-Isolo Local Government, who represented the Executive Chairman who was unavoidably absent.

During the meeting, the founder presented track records of impact, including the approval from Lagos State Ministry of Education (District 6) to conduct safety training in over 100 schools, including 44 in Oshodi-Isolo.

Hon. Modupeoluwa Badmus-Aregbe, speaking on behalf of the Executive Chairman, commended SHE for its relentless commitment to advocacy, safety education, and community health initiatives.

"The work you do in promoting women’s health and safety is commendable. Your efforts in ensuring safer schools and communities are truly inspiring, and we are proud to be associated with such a purposeful initiative," she stated.

Her remarks reaffirmed the local government’s readiness to support the initiative in enhancing safety awareness and public health education.

As a token of appreciation for the support and commitment of the Oshodi-Isolo Local Government, SHE Safety and Health Initiative presented a plaque to the Executive Chairman as a token of appreciation.

The visit reinforced the power of partnerships in advancing health, safety, and gender equality, ensuring that women and young girls are empowered with the knowledge and resources to thrive in a secure environment.
