Recall the demonstrations against police brutality across the country, organised under the #EndSARS campaign in October which was later hijacked by hoodlums had so many negative impacts.
On October 21, 2020, after the #EndSARS protest led into a crisis, a mob had broken into the Oba Of Lagos palace despite the presence of soldiers, and attempted to set fire to the premises.
However, military officers intervened and king was rescued from the palace, while buildings within the premises were vandalised.
Confirming the Oba’s return after 10 weeks, Oreoluwa Finnih, senior special assistant to the Lagos governor on health, tweeted that the monarch returned to the Iga Idunganran palace on Friday.
She wrote:
“Our daddy is back home… Oba of Lagos, HRM, Alayeluwa Oba Rilwan Babatunde Osuolale Aremu Akiolu’s triumphant entry to Iga Idunganran Palace, today, Friday, 1st January, 2021"
