Insecurity: Mixed Reactions Trail Sunday Ighoho's Fight For Freedom Of Yoruba Nation

 

Sunday Adeyemo, popularly known as Sunday Igboho, has been in the news for a couple of weeks following his agitation for a Yoruba nation and the seven-day ultimatum issued to Fulani herdsmen in Igangan, Ibarapa axis of Oyo State.

It would be recalled that, Last Friday, Igboho and his supporters stormed the area and gave the Fulani one week to leave accusing them of killing Yoruba individuals.

Igboho disclosed he acted on the request of traditional rulers who protested they were helpless about incessant killings and kidnappings.

Meanwhile, the federal  and state government warned against eviction of any ethic group and ordered the arrest of Igboho.

It was gathered that the IGP ordered the Oyo commissioner of police, Ngozi Onadeko to arrest Igboho and transfer him to Abuja.

Mixed reactions have continue to trail the development and the reactions of the government.

At this point, I think the Southwest Governors should come together and make Sunday Igboho the Head of Amotekun and empower the unit appropriately to secure our forests. We must be very strategic in this fight against the kidnappers and rapists that have invaded our land.

I'm shocked that the IGP ordered for the arrest of Sunday Igboho but didn't order his men to enter the bushes of Ibarapa North LG & fish out killer herdsmen & kidnappers.

True, Igboho's outbursts are capable of causing anarchy, but you can't go after him & ignore the terrorists.

I still remember a time when a particular sect ordered igbos out of their area, I couldn't find evidence of them being arrested

It should be noted that  Igboho is an acclaimed Yoruba activist, though some persons describe him as a notorious ‘political thug’ in Ibadan. He was born on October 10 in 1972, at Igboho town, located in Oke-Ogun, Oyo State.

Nicknamed after his hometown, Igboho, he later rose to fame following his role in the Modakeke-Ife communal crisis in 1997, while defending the Modakeke people.
