Lionel Andrés Messi Cuccittini widely seen as one of the greatest player of all time turned 33 today, June 24.

Messi who began playing soccer since he was a little boy was diagnosed with growth hormone deficiency (GHD) when he was 11 and this nearly shattered his dreams.

His parent could not afford the treatment, but Barcelona gave him a chance and agreed to pay for his treatment when he joined the club's under 14s at age 13.

Today, he's a football ICON, one of the most celebrated football player.

According to Barcelona, Lionel Messi is the best player in the world. He started his footballing career in 1995 at Newell's Old Boys until the year 2000.

Fans all around the world took to social media to celebrate football superstar as they trend #happyBirthdayMessi on twitter.

Messi’s achievements are exceptional, he has won six Ballon d’Or awards, he's a six times Champions League top scorer, a six times Golden Shoe winner, a six times ‘Pichichi’ (top scorer) in La Liga, he's the Ballon d’Or winner at the 2014 World Cup, he was FIFA World Player of the Year in 2009 and FIFA The Best winner in 2019.
Messi, popularly called GOAT (Greatest of all times) is undoubtedly one of the best and most respected players in the world.

Messi aside his outstanding performance in sports is also a Goodwill Ambassador.

According to UNICEF, Messi has dedicated time to UNICEF since 2004, supporting the offices in Spain and Argentina with advocacy and fundraising. He strongly believes  every child has the right to grow up healthy, especially handicapped children.

In February 2019, his charity foundation donated €200,000 (£175,000/$218,000) to Unicef projects in Kenya to allow over 2,000 citizens access to free food and water in the area.

Even during this current COVID-19 outbreak, Messi reportedly made a donation of €1 million to help in the fight against Coronavirus.
