COVID-19: Seyi Makinde Gives Update On New Cases, Contradicts NCDC

Governor of Oyo State, Engr. Seyi Makinde on Tuesday, announced that the State has recorded two new cases of coronavirus while NCDC announced four new cases.

Makinde made this announcement via a series of tweets on his official Twitter handle Tuesday night.

The Governor said with the two new cases, Oyo State now has sixty seven (67) confirmed cases of COVID-19.

Makinde, who is also the Chairman, COVID-19 task force in the State wrote,

“the COVID-19 confirmation tests for two suspected cases came back positive. One case in Ibadan North and one case in Ibadan North West.

“So, the total number of confirmed cases in Oyo State as at 8 PM today, is sixty-seven”.

Meanwhile, on Tuesday, NCDC announced four new cases in Oyo bringing total cass to 69.


Makinde further revealed that three patients receiving treatment at the state's facility have also been discharged after the second test on them came back negative.

He wrote,

“Three confirmed COVID-19 patients have received their second negative test results and have been discharged.

“This brings the number of discharged cases in Oyo State to seventeen.
