d

Report says, the Nigeria Police Force on Tuesday stormed the office of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) correspondent chapel in Delta State to arrest at least four reporters of different newspapers organisations.

It was reported that, the arrested journalists are Matthew Omonigho (Daily Post), Edeki Egafe (NAN), Francis Sadhere (Business Day), and Christopher Odomhe (Freelancer).

POLITICS NIGERIA reported that,  when three representatives of the NUJ visited the Police Area Command in Warri to check on their colleagues, they were also detained for making enquiries on the earlier arrest with their phones confiscated.

“When some journalists went to the command, the officers, again, checked their phones, saw someone’s number and arrested them”, NUJ Chairman in Delta, Michael Ikeogwu, said.

The chairman, however, called on Nigerians to reject the illegal actions of the police.

As at the time of filing this report occurred, the reason for the arrest is yet to be unconverted.
