COVID-19: Nigeria Confirms Eight New Cases, Total Now 232

The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control has announced another Eight new cases in the country.

This was revealed via its official Twitter account.

NCDC tweets;

"Eight newcases of COVID19 have been reported in Nigeria: 5 in Lagos, 2 in the FCT and 1 in Kaduna State

As at 09:30 pm 5th April there are 232 confirmed cases of COVID19 reported in Nigeria. Thirty-three have been discharged with five deaths.

NCDC added,

"As at 09:30 pm 5th April, there are 232 confirmed cases, 33 discharged and 5 deaths.
For a breakdown of cases by state- https://t.co/zQrpNf5Q61"

Currently, here is the breakdown of cases by state:

Lagos- 120
FCT- 47
Osun- 20
Oyo- 9
Edo- 9
Bauchi- 6
Akwa Ibom- 5
Kaduna- 5
Ogun- 4
Enugu- 2
Ekiti- 2
Rivers-1
Benue- 1
Ondo- 1

In another development, the NCDC has revealed that as an agency of the Federal Government of Nigeria, they've not engaged brand ambassadors as part of response to COVID19.

Therefore debunking the reports on social media that Funke Akindele Bello is an ambassador of NCDC.

NCDC further urged all Nigerians to maintain social distancing to prevent the spread of COVID19 in the country.
