COVID-19: Ogun State Releases Method for food distribution Ahead Lockdown

d

The Governor of Ogun State, Dapo Abiodun has announced that, the state would begin the distribution of relief package for residents of the state.

The Governor added that, the relief package comprises food items and hand sanitizers,  to help suppress the economic effects of the lockdown ordered by President Muhammadu Buhari.

It would be recalled that the President had on Sunday ordered that Ogun, Lagos and Abuja be locked down to curb the spread of Coronavirus pandemic in Nigeria.

In a statement released on Thursday, Governor Abiodun stated that, the Chairmen would on Thursday organise sensitisation programmes for people in their LGAs, to educate the people on the symptoms of the novel virus and ways to prevent it.

He added that, the chairmen will ensure every household is reached effectively.

Abiodun said,

The stimulus package distribution is going to reach 500,000 homes with an average of four persons per household.

The bags to be distributed contain food items and hand sanitizers which, if used judiciously, will sustain each household for the 14-day pilot stage of the lockdown.”

The distribution will not be influenced by regional or political affiliations, as all distributing officers have been duly trained and instructed.

He further urged all residents to comply with the stay-at-home order which will take  effect from 11 pm on Friday, adding that as part of plans to maintain social distancing the bags will not be distributed at any gathering but at individual homes.
