Ondo Declares Work-free day, Seven-day Mourning Over Death Of Commissioner

The Ondo State Government has declared a seven-day mourning for the late Commissioner for Health, Dr Wahab Adegbenro, who died of complications from COVID-19.

This was disclosed in a statement signed by Commissioner for Information in the state, Donald Ojogo, in Akure, the state capital.

The commissioner said the government had directed that all flags in the state be flown at half-mast for seven days starting from today (Thursday) in honour of the late Health Commissioner.

He further said, the government also declared Friday as a work-free day in honour of the late commissioner.

Recall Lifestylegist earlier reported that the commissioner, Adegbenro died at the age of 65 after battling with COVID-19.

The statement reads in part,

"With a deep sense of sadness, the Ondo State wishes to announce the demise of the Honourable Commissioner for Health, Dr Wahab Adegbenro.

"The least we can do for this medical Hero is to plant a seed of honour for him. Accordingly, the Ondo State Government has directed that all flags in the state must fly at half-mast for seven days from today Thursday, 2nd of July, 2020.

"Similarly, the Ondo State Government has declared tomorrow Friday 3rd July a work-free day to honour his memory as the family will commit his body to the mother earth.
