Nigeria Develops Coronavirus Testing Kit

The Federal Government has announced the indigenous development and validation of RNA-Swift, a test kit for diagnosing SARS-CoV-2, the causative agent for COVID-19.

The Minister of Science and Technology, Ogbonnaya Onu, who disclosed this at press conference in Abuja on Thursday added this and will accelerate the capacity to test more people to further contain the spread.

He further said the RNA-Swift will be  made available  commercially at a price that is affordable.

The minister revealed to journalists that in the coming months, five million farmers would be tested with the RNA-Swift kits from the first 10 million kits to be produced.
