Jo-Issa Rae Diop popularly known as
Issa Rae is an American Actress, producer, writer and director who was born in Los
Angeles, California to a Senegalese Father.
Like several other celebrities, Issa
Rae started on her Youtube channel directing, producing and starring in her personal
web series, The Misadventures of Awkward Black Girl.
The series which had limited episodes
was what the beautiful Actress used to express her creativity as the series became popular through blog
posts, verbal communication and social media, resulting in media reporting and
attention.
In 2013, Issa Rae started a comedy
series which focused around the difficult practices of a modern
African-American woman.
The show titled Insecure received
critical commendation for its significant and comical ideas in 2016.
Since the debut of Insecure,
Issa Rae has received many awards including two Golden Globe Nominations for
Best Actress in a Television Series Musical or Comedy and Primetime Emmy
nomination for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Comedy Series.
After a successful production with
her HBO series Insecure, Issa Rae became one of Hollywood’s most talented
producer, writer, director and actress.
Since getting her fame in the movie
Industry, Rae has also starred in many Television Series and Movies. Some of
her notable movies are: The Hate you Give where she played the role of
April Ofrah, Little, and her 2020 movies, The Photograph and The
Lovebirds.
Issa Rae is not only known for her
roles on big screens but also a woman who can be regarded as a game changer and
a magnet for undiscovered talent when she signed a deal with Columbia Pictures
to endorse developing and diverse journalists in order to showcase their talents.
