The disqualification of Edo state Governor, Godwin Obaseki by the All Progressives Congress, APC has elicited massive reactions on Twitter and other social media platforms.
Obaseki was disqualified from participating in the party’s governorship primary by the screening committee on Friday.
The committee premised its decisions upon discrepancies in his certificates, noting that it also disqualified two other aspirants – Chris Ogiemwonyi and Matthew Iduoriyekemwe.
However, many have questioned the rationale behind Obaseki’s disqualification on the basis of ‘defective certificates.

How could Governor Godwin Obaseki have been qualified by the @OfficialAPCNg to contest the Edo gubernatorial elections in 2016 and not be considered eligible for the same position in 2020? Same state. Same position. Same party. Same man. Same qualification. #BuhariTormentor— Reno Omokri (@renoomokri) June 12, 2020
Such an irony that it was on Democracy Day of all days that Godwin Obaseki's controversial disqualification from the gov primary was announced by the APC.To be sure, I couldn't care less about Obaseki or Oshiomhole. When politicians fight like this, it is NEVER about the people

If it was possible under our electoral laws, if PDP was a trustworthy party and if Obaseki's certificate is truly "defective", I'd have loved APC to be entirely disqualified from the Edo gov election.Just that PDP may even present a candidate with no certificate at all!1/2

APC is using Obaseki’s NYSC certificate against him but the President doesn’t have SSCE and no one in APC bats an eyelid.Hypo what?

Godwin Obaseki who was cleared by APC has now been disqualified by the same party on grounds that his HSC and NYSC certificates are defective. Same credentials he submitted 4 years ago and was cleared and considered fit to run 😅Who has popcorn please? Season film about to start

One of the most important virtues in life is LOYALTY. Never bite the finger that fed you. Obaseki has learnt this lesson the hard way. I have known Oshiomole for years. He is a formidable adversary, a skillful fighter &a tough cookie. Obaseki could never have outmanouvered him.— Femi Fani-Kayode (@realFFK) June 12, 2020
On Nigeria’s Democracy Day, a seating Governor is disqualified from re-contesting for the same office by the same party that presented him the first time. What a way to mark the June 12 annulment. Obaseki on his part kept swimming against the tide. https://t.co/JTSdtW10ff— JJ. Omojuwa (@Omojuwa) June 12, 2020
Very stupid decision to disqualified obaseki. Just because he resisted to be a puppet.this signifies the fall of @OfficialAPCNg oshiomole has failed the party and he go down together with the party.@OfficialPDPNig will win the election.— Wazirin Buhari (@WazirinBuhari) June 12, 2020
Adams Oshoimohle "Mr talk and do"I'll retire Saraki; he didI'll retire Atiku; he didI'll retire OBJ; he didI'll make sure APC produces the Senate President & Speaker of NASS; he did it also.Obaseki is next;Respect the Warrior of Afemai & the Ozhakuza of Benin Kingdom. pic.twitter.com/3szbSb7rDO

Aliko Dangote took Obaseki to Oshiomhole as his preferred candidate for Edo governorship. The moment crisis started btw d two, Dangote approached Obaseki & advised him to tread cautiously on his fight against his benefactor.Obaseki told Dangote, "this is politics, not business".
