Edo Guber: Reactions Trail Gov Obaseki’s Disqualification

The disqualification of Edo state Governor,  Godwin Obaseki by the All Progressives Congress, APC has elicited massive reactions on Twitter and other social media platforms.

Obaseki was disqualified from participating in the party’s governorship primary by the screening committee on Friday.

The committee premised its decisions upon discrepancies in his certificates, noting that it also disqualified two other aspirants – Chris Ogiemwonyi and Matthew Iduoriyekemwe.

However, many have questioned the rationale behind Obaseki’s disqualification on the basis of ‘defective certificates.

Such an irony that it was on Democracy Day of all days that Godwin Obaseki's controversial disqualification from the gov primary was announced by the APC.

To be sure, I couldn't care less about Obaseki or Oshiomhole. When politicians fight like this, it is NEVER about the people

If it was possible under our electoral laws, if PDP was a trustworthy party and if Obaseki's certificate is truly "defective", I'd have loved APC to be entirely disqualified from the Edo gov election.

Just that PDP may even present a candidate with no certificate at all!

APC is using Obaseki’s NYSC certificate against him but the President doesn’t have SSCE and no one in APC bats an eyelid.

Godwin Obaseki who was cleared by APC has now been disqualified by the same party on grounds that his HSC and NYSC certificates are defective. Same credentials he submitted 4 years ago and was cleared and considered fit to run 😅

Aliko Dangote took Obaseki to Oshiomhole as his preferred candidate for Edo governorship. The moment crisis started btw d two, Dangote approached Obaseki & advised him to tread cautiously on his fight against his benefactor.

Obaseki told Dangote, "this is politics,not business".
