Coronavirus Pandemic: Checkout Results Of Governors And Top Government Officials In Nigeria

Following the news that the Chief of Staff to President Muhammadu Buhari, Abba Kyari, had tested positive for coronavirus, while almost at the same time, Bauchi State governor Bala Mohammed, Edo State Speaker, Frank Okiye tested positive for  COVID-19.

It was reported that several politicians and important personalities in the country had contact with the Chief of staff, Bauchi Governor and the Speaker during important meetings, events before realising they’d been infected.

Thereafter, the politicians and other important personalities we're adviced to go into isolation while they undergo tests.

Checkout the results of the officials we've seen so far;

President Mohammad Buhari


The President was confirmed by the presidential spokesperson, Femi Adesina, according to Channels, that the president tested negative.

However, reports making round the social media revealed the president is sick despite the fact that he tested Negative.



Pro. Yemi Osinbajo


Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, has also tested negative for coronavirus.

Osinbajo had gone into self-isolation on Tuesday, and on Wednesday, it  reported that he’d tested negative for the virus.


Lai Mohammed


Minister of Information, Culture and Tourism tested Negative.

He said to the press that:
Yes I did my test yesterday, early this morning I got the result and it was negative, that’s why I’m here. Every member of the Presidential Task Force also took their test yesterday”

Godwin Obaseki


Edo State governor Godwin Obaseki has also tested negative for coronavirus. The governor had earlier shared that he was going into self-isolation, and sent samples over to the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) for testing.

Channels reported that Obaseki has tested negative, although he’s still  in isolation.

Ahmed Zainab


The Minister of Finance and Budget tweeted that:

"I am grateful for negative #Covid19 test results & appreciate your concerns & prayers. I urge all of us to practice social distancing, wash our hands & use sanitizers as frequently as possible to help put an end to this global pandemic. Please support by following guidelines".

Rotimi Akeredolu


Ondo State governor Rotimi Akeredolu shared on his Twitter that he’s tested negative for the virus.

 He wrote on his Twitter:

G"morning sir. The result is negative. Congratulations your Excellency” I just recieved the above text from the Commissioner for Health regarding my #Covid19 test results. We give all glory to God. Wish everyone affected speedy recovery".
